TOO MUCH – ZAYN FT TIMBALAND | The song was produced by Timbaland, who co-wrote it with Zayn, Angel Lopez and Federico Vindver of Timbaland Productions.

The animated teaser video is straight from the 1980s, with the pink-haired Zayn moonwalking and backflipping to the beat while Timbaland bumps along in a speaker-decked car.

Timbaland has a way of pulling the best out of vocalist and his anticipated collab with Zayn is no exception. The pair’s first musical marriage, “Too Much,” dropped on Thursday morning (Aug. 2) and the track has the perfect combination of Tim’s signature electro soul beats and Zayn’s tortured love lyrics. “I took your digits a while back/ I think we fucked in the flashback/ While in my mind kind of sidetracked,” Zayn sings dreamily over a pulsing beat, mellow keys and a haunting falsetto ad-lib.

“Too Much” will appear on Zayn’s forthcoming second album, which will be released via RCA Records. A release date and title have yet to be announced. Zayn’s debut album, Mind of Mine, arrived in 2016.

Zayn Malik, 25, is keeping his music momentum going. Just two weeks after dropping his “Sour Diesel” single and video, the former 1D member has returned with yet another hit! Zayn unveiled his new track “Too Much” on August 2, and fans are already loving it. The track, which features producer and rapper Timbaland, 46, is a soulful and nostalgic anthem that serves as the perfect song to lead us into the dogs days of summer.

He said: “I’m trying to keep it as mysterious as possible but there’s a plan with the roll out It’s going to be different to I think anything anyone has done before, I don’t think has done it this way. So it’s going to be interesting to see how the audience react to this kind of release but wanted to try something different. And I think it’s all going to make sense in the end when the album finally drops.”

In addition to going pink, Zayn also appears to have hopped on the ever-controversial tiny sunglasses trend. He paired his new ‘do with a set of ’90s inspired specs, clearly taking style advice from Gigi Hadid. His graphic tee was nearly as statement making as his hair, reading: “Kinda hungry, Kinda horny, Kinda Tired. Kinda wanna get a tattoo.”

[Verse 1: ZAYN]
I think we met and the time flies
I took your digits a while back
I think we fucked in the flashback
Won’t leave my mind, kinda sidetracked
Felt good but now I feel bad
I think I know I can’t take it back
No, there’s nothin’ I can say

[Pre-Chorus: Timbaland]
Must be an addiction
I wanted it all, didn’t expect it to fall
Must be an affliction
I wanted to call, but I didn’t call
Now it’s keepin’ me up night and day
Keepin’ me up night and day
Must be an addiction
Now there’s nothin’ I can say but

[Chorus: ZAYN & Timbaland]
I guess I want too much (too much)
I just want love and lust
You just can’t love enough
That’s why I need a touch
That’s why I need a touch
That’s why I need a touch
That’s why I need a touch
That’s why I need a touch

[Verse 2: ZAYN]
I never meant to, but I did though
I gotta keep it on the d-low
Then again, what the fuck do I know
You’re always on my mind so
Felt good but now I feel bad
I think I know I can’t take it back
No, there’s nothin’ I can say

[Pre-Chorus: Timbaland]
Must be an addiction
I wanted it all, didn’t expect it to fall
Must be an affliction
I wanted to call, but I didn’t call
Now it’s keepin’ me up night and day
Keepin’ me up night and day
Must be an addiction
Now there’s nothin’ I can say but

[Chorus: ZAYN & Timbaland]
I guess I want too much (too much)
I just want love and lust
You just can’t love enough
That’s why I need a touch
That’s why I need a touch
That’s why I need a touch
That’s why I need a touch
That’s why I need a touch

[Bridge: ZAYN]
When the room becomes a game we play
White lines they seem to turn to snakes
I guess I’ll turn you ‘way
Say white lies to your face
You know I know my place

Nothin’ I can say
Nothin’ I can say
Nothin’ I can say

[Chorus: ZAYN & Timbaland]
I guess I want too much (too much)
I just want love and lust
You just can’t love enough
That’s why I need a touch
That’s why I need a touch
That’s why I need a touch
That’s why I need a touch
That’s why I need a touch

Any conversation about the greatest producers of all time must include Timbaland. Timothy Mosley emerged in the Nineties with a series of beguiling records that changed the course of hip-hop and R&B; in short order, he launched a career in pop, helping to create unforgettable hits for Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado and Jay Z. The open-minded, genre-hybrid approach that dominates contemporary production would be hard to imagine without Timbaland’s example.

‘Too Much’ is the latest track slated for Zayn’s long-awaited second album, following other recent releases ‘Entertainer’, and ‘Let Me’. His debut solo album Mind of Mine was released in 2016.
In a four-star review, NME said of the record: “Zayn has clearly achieved his aim of making an album of sexy, credible pop-R&B. ‘Mind Of Mine’ is sumptuously produced and perfectly sung, with just enough intrigue.”
