Post Malone ditches the effects on his voice, souped up lifestyle and high energy production and goes straight acoustic as he outlines his struggles to maintain a relationship. It’s brilliant in its somberness and will surely moisten a few eyes of the brokenhearted during late night listens. To be honest, it could be the defining moment of this album and something that his fans will beg to hear more of on his next album.

The sweetest one, “Stay,” is a testament to Malone’s skills as a songwriter. Its George Harrison–esque chords drip like honey, and his quavery melisma makes heartfelt what sounds merely corny in description. Like many albums in the streaming age, Beerbongs & Bentleys is overly long, but a listening experience would be disjointed without the songs most clearly seen as bloat.

One of the biggest commercial success stories of 2017 was Post Malone’s album Stoney. Though it debuted with a modest 58,000 units in its first week out of the gate, Stoney built steam throughout the remainder of the year, eventually earning double platinum status thanks to several world-beating singles like “Congratulations,” “Too Young,” and “I Fall Apart.” Since that time, the horde of Posty fans have been loudly clamoring for updates on the next project, and during his intimate show for Bud Light’s Dive Bar Tour, he finally gave the people something tangible to chew on.

[Verse 1]
It’s true that all that you know is all that you are
You said that it’s all that you want and more
Fuck off and pour another drink
And tell me what you think
You know that I’m too drunk to talk right now
You put your cigarette out on my face
So beautiful, please, woman

[Pre-Chorus]
Don’t break your back for me
I’ll put you out of your misery

[Chorus]
Tell me that it’s all okay (tell me that it’s all okay)
I’ve been waitin’ on this all damn day (waitin’ on this all damn day)
Call me in the mornin’, tell me how last night went
I’m here, but don’t count on me to—

[Verse 2]
Stay a little longer if you convince me
And tell me all the things that you have against me
Every time we make up, the truth is fadin’
Everybody’s blind when the view’s amazin’
Damn, who are we right now?
Can we have a little conversation?
Figure it out with no intoxication
We carry on, what is our motivation?
We’re never wrong, how the hell we gonna make it?
Maybe we’re used to this
Tell me, what are we to do?
It’s like we only play to lose
Chasin’ pain with an excuse
I love that shit and so do you

[Pre-Chorus]
But don’t break your back for me
I’ll put you out of your misery

[Chorus]
Tell me that it’s all okay (tell me that it’s all okay)
I’ve been waitin’ on this all damn day (waitin’ on this all damn day)
Call me in the mornin’, tell me how last night went
I’m here, but don’t count on me to stay

[Guitar Solo]

[Chorus]
Tell me that it’s all okay (tell me that it’s all okay)
I’ve been waitin’ on this all damn day (waitin’ on this all damn day)
Call me in the mornin’, tell me how last night went
I’m here, but don’t count on me to stay
