Trippie Redd’s “Mac 10” ft. Lil Duke & Lil Baby | ! scheduled on August 9 and has limited but powerful features on all 14 tracks
Trippie joins Playboi Carti, who has much more in hiding, the legendary West Coast OG The Game, Lil Baby, Lil Duke and his girlfriend. Redd has already set the table with a couple of singles on "Mac 10" and "Under Enemy Arms."
Trippie Redd shoots some rounds and then leaves the rest to his guests, who follow his example and point in the only verses of the song. They are probably not anyone’s ideal team, but they work surprisingly well to announce Wheezy’s horns, taking turns invoking excess bolts and extravagant violence. Duke bursts into a bully moan as he strengthens from the lap of luxury, in an attic on a pile of money. Lil Baby, who Trippie Redd allegedly woke up from a deep sleep just to hit, that takes full advantage of the song with a slippery flow full of discreetly ingenious raps on shots.
The album explores many sides of Trippie Redd’s mind and artistry. “Snake Skin” is a heavy track that touches on topics like self-harm, which he elaborated on in a recent interview with Billboard, saying, “It’s kind of suicidal in a stay away from it type of shit. That’s the whole concept of it, stay away from suicide.” Then there are his fierce raps on tracks like “Be Yourself” and “Mac 10” that remind you he’s a rapper first and a melody-maker second. Diplo is credited as a producer for the title track and, in addition to the previously unveiled artists, The Game and Lil Duke also make appearances.
owards the end of July, Trippie Redd linked up with Lil Baby and Lil Duke for a new collaborative record known as “Mac 10.” Now, for his latest major single, the 20-year-old star is reconnecting with Diplo for an electronic-leaning track titled “!.” Notably, “!” also serves as the title track for Trippie Redd’s next major studio album.
