Ed Sheeran and Khalid have joined together for the new song “Beautiful People”. The song appears in Sheeran’s Collaboration Project No.6, published on July 12.

The melody is to remain true to yourself and not try to become one of those so-called “beautiful people” obsessed with material things and stature.
As the singer-songwriter has done before the release of his previous No.6 singles, Sheeran mocked the video with a short clip that shows a couple waiting in line at passport control before it heads out.

Hear Ed Sheeran, Khalid Address Staying True to Yourself in ‘Beautiful People’

“Beautiful People” is the third single of No. 6 of Sheeran, contains appearances of Cardi B, Camila Cabello, Eminem, Bruno Mars, Travis Scott and more. “I Do not Care” with Justin Bieber and “Cross Me” featuring Chance the Rapper and PnB Rock both dropped in May.

Presented on Sheeran’s next album, Collaborative Project No.6, “Beautiful People” takes advantage of the same misplaced feeling shown in his Justin Bieber play “I Do not Care.”

In the music video, the movie begins with a mediocre-looking couple waiting in line with their luggage at a small airport. After being approached by a couple of airport staff, they are directed to a long white limousine waiting outside. The couple hesitantly enter the limousine, where they eat sandwiches that pack and realize that other luxury cars pass in front of them, apparently heading to the same destination.

As the video continues, the couple is in a series of luxurious and expensive places full of beautiful people: a pool party next to a mansion, a yacht full of models, a fashion show and a house party. Surrounded by wealth, indulgence and beauty, the couple reacts first of all with caution, but spends most of the time focused on the other.

At the end of the video, the couple flies home in a private plane, and when they land at the airport, they are offered a trip in a nice car. The couple declines, take their hands and go to the airport bus.

[Intro: Ed Sheeran]
We are, we are, we are

[Verse 1: Ed Sheeran]
L.A. on a Saturday night in the summer
Sundown and they all come out
Lamborghinis and their rented Hummers
The party’s on, so they’re headin’ downtown (‘Round here)
Everybody’s lookin’ for a come up
And they wanna know what you’re about
Me in the middle with the one I love and
We’re just tryna figure everything out

[Pre-Chorus: Ed Sheeran]
We don’t fit in well ’cause we are just ourselves
I could use some help gettin’ out of this conversation, yeah
You look stunning, dear, so don’t ask that question here
This is my only fear: that we become

[Chorus: Ed Sheeran]
Beautiful people
Drop top, designer clothes
Front row at fashion shows
“What d’you do?” and “Who d’you know?”
Inside the world of beautiful people
Champagne and rolled-up notes
Prenups and broken homes
Surrounded, but still alone
Let’s leave the party

[Post-Chorus: Ed Sheeran]
That’s not who we are (We are, we are, we are)
We are not beautiful
Yeah, that’s not who we are (We are, we are, we are)
We are not beautiful (Beautiful)

[Verse 2: Khalid]
L.A., mmm, drove for hours last night and we made it nowhere (Nowhere, nowhere)
I see stars in your eyes when we’re halfway there (All night)
I’m not fazed by all them lights and flashin’ cameras
‘Cause with my arms around you, there’s no need to care

[Pre-Chorus: Khalid]
We don’t fit in well, we are just ourselves
I could use some help gettin’ out of this conversation, yeah
You look stunning, dear, so don’t ask that question here
This is my only fear: that we become

[Chorus: Ed Sheeran]
Beautiful people
Drop top, designer clothes
Front row at fashion shows
“What d’you do?” and “Who d’you know?”
Inside the world of beautiful people
Champagne and rolled-up notes
Prenups and broken homes
Surrounded, but still alone
Let’s leave the party

[Post-Chorus: Ed Sheeran, Both, Khalid]
That’s not who we are (We are, we are, we are)
We are not beautiful, yeah
Yeah, that’s not who we are (We are, we are, we are)
We are not beautiful (Beautiful)

[Outro: Ed Sheeran]
We are, we are, we are
We are not beautiful
